  • Service Record: Was awarded the Medal for Distinguished Conduct as well as theVictory, British War, and 14 Star Medals. Was a commander in the KOYLI. August 1914, left Dublin with his Bttn. Took part in the retreat from Mons. In battles of the Marne, the Ainse, fighting at Le Bassee in October 1914. Later at Messines and Ypres during first battle for Calais in November 1914. Served throughout Winter Campaign in Flanders until contracted a severe illness from service. Still recovering from it 15th November 1915 when awarded medal in Hull.
