Gertrude Esther May Skipwith, known just as May, was born in 1891 in Tunbridge Wells. May lived with her family at Loversal Hall. During the First World War, May served with her sisters at Loversal Hall, spending four years on the wards at the hospital with a short interval working at Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Unfortunately, May died aged just 33 years old of tuberculosis in London, and was buried in Loversal.
