Riding High: Doncaster Airfields and the Zeppelin Raid on Sheffield

South Yorkshire made an important contribution to the war in the skies during the First World War. Local airfields and depots repaired and assembled aircraft, trained pilots who flew on the Western Front, and defended Sheffield against the Zeppelin raid on the city in 1916.

This exhibition has been developed by volunteers at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum as part of Doncaster 1914-18.
